Holy schnikes! We just had a tornado tear through here. Flipped the swing set and ripped the roof off of the dog house...before throwing it fifty yards. Lines down, poles crooked, trees snapped, and things weren't much better down the hill either with all that plus barn damage. Well, time to start cleaning up.

The elementary school had their xmas play today. It was pretty good. Rain said Jordan wasn't quite ready for walking out on stage in front of all those people in the morning show, lol. I made it to the afternoon one and he did great!

Roba's Family Farm

Took the boys over tonight for the first time. We won! 24-14 over South Williamsport. Jordan saw some of his friends and teachers, and they both saw and high-fived the Ram. I caught a football, tried talking Jordan into having the cheerleaders sign it for him, hehe, didn't happen though.

Jesse was born on February 11, 2009 at 4:08am at Towanda Memorial Hospital. He was 9.4 pounds, 20 inches long, and his head was 14 inches around (ouch!). On Tuesday Lorraine had a doctor appointment that morning and was at 2cm. He must've gotten the ball rolling because at 1:00pm she started feeling contractions about 20 minutes apart but they didn't start getting closer until after 9:00pm. Around 11:30pm they were within 5 minutes and lasting almost a minute. I told her we were waiting until midnight because there was no way I was paying for an extra day! Yeah, I'm just kidding, but really I'm not. Or am I?

Anyway, we left the house around 12:15am Wednesday morning, were all checked in and changed by 1:00am and that's when the "hard labor", as I call it, started. The contractions were 2-4 minutes apart and causing her a lot of pain, especially when they made her roll around because Jesse was laying on his cord. Still at 2cm around 2:30am and then all of a sudden, 7cm within minutes. People were flying around the room, in and out, doing this and that. It looked like something straight out of ER. By 3:45am the nurse calls the doctor in because she's at 9.5cm. He says to give a push on the next contraction and then says, "Now she's at 10cm.".

At 4:08am Jesse popped out, I cut the cord as I did with Jordan, and we're off to the nursery to get cleaned up. The nurse says "Holy cow!" and tells me his stats with a "That's a big boy." after them. I go back into the room to start some action with an over/under of 2 ounces but no one bit. That's too bad, the doctor guessed 8.8 pounds, I would've made out nice on him! They were all surprised to hear how big he was though. Notice I didn't mention anything about "drugs"? All natural. It was too fast to take anything, which is another reason why Lorraine said "I don't remember this with Jordan." hehe.

He looks just like Jordan when he was that young. And since Jordan is starting to look more and more like me, Jesse's going to be one handsome man! At least we're consistent, eh? Since Lorraine was up and showered by 5:00am on Thursday and demonstrated she was recovering excellently, the doctor allowed us to go home that evening (though she was actually ready to go home Wednesday morning by 9:00am). Yep, in at 1:00am on Wednesday and out at 5:00pm on Thursday. 15 hours in labor with 3 hours of hard labor and only 40 hours in the hospital.

We're home now and trying to get acclimated all around. Jordan has been the best big brother and Mommy and Daddy helper you could ask for. He can't wait for him to get up so he can feed him, constantly likes to hold him and gets anything we need for him anytime we ask. He also says he's ready for him to get down and play Lincoln Logs, but he knows he's too small right now so he'll just put him in the back of his wagon and take him for a putt-putt ride...

I may have missed the ride down, but I made it in time for breakfast! I had to work so I lounged around town thinking I'd go down in the morning but I couldn't sleep so I left the house around 3:00am and was there around 5:00am or so.

We had a really good time this year. Jordan was able to, and did, ride more rides by himself. I'm pretty sure the bracelet cost was covered by noon as everything he saw in Kiddie Land, he went on. Next year he'll definitely be able to do almost any ride he wants to. Speaking of noon, we went back to the bus so we could all take a ~~nap~~ break. Well, Jordan napped anyway. Later that afternoon I went on some rides with Kiley and Joanna, mostly the Fandango. That's when "the boys" entered the picture and all of a sudden Uncle Drew's not good enough to ride with. Whatever girls, I see how it is. When we went back to the bus for dinner that night Ruthie asked where the girls were. I told her they met up with some boys and were alright. After the look she gave me I reassured her that since one of the boy's shirts said "Class of 2012" that made him a freshman and the girls were ok because they were with older boys. Haha, yeah, I got "that look" this time. After a Yuengling with Kenny, I was ready for bed as I'd now been up for 40 some hours.

The last day we were there the Skloosh got us all nice and wet in the morning and the Flume kept the fun going. Jordan loved the drops and went on it a couple times with Mommy and the girls while Codey and I pumped quarters into the water jets on the observation deck. A couple hours later and a few more rides on our Flyers it was time to go. As I always say about this trip, "I look forward to going, and I look forward to going home."

Ahh, the lake. Our once a year, real vacation. I love having nothing to do but wait for wine thirty. It's tough, but we all have to do our part. Give us swimming, boat rides, feeding the ducks, lakeside fires and we're happy campers. We keep saying we should do this, go here, do a winery tour, etc. but truthfully, once we're at the lake we really don't care to leave to do anything else.

It just so happened we were there on a weekend which a few of the neighbors had their grandchildren staying with them, so Jordan had plenty of kids to play with...especially Sarah. He was completely enamored with her. Luckily for her, there were other kids for Jordan to play with who were, thankfully, happy to play with him as well. Hopefully the neighbors will let us know when their grand kids will be up next year so we can sync plans. It was nice for everyone that it worked out that way but since we were all leaving on the same day I can only imagine the sighs of relief, number naps taken because it's finally quiet, and the toast at wine thirty that day. (You'll have to fill me in on that one, Aunt Vicki.)

With help from Uncle Ray, Jordan caught his first fish! And his second, third, you see where this is going. I can't wait to take him deep sea fishing, as much as he likes to fish he'll love that. Another first was his going on a kayak ride with Sarah...ooohhh, Jordy's got a girlfriend, Jordy's got a girlfriend!

As much as we hated to leave, we did. Again, we stopped for lunch on the way home and again we missed stopping at Cook's! After a busy vacation of playing, someone is always sleeping before we even get outside of Penn Yan and I don't have the heart to wake ~~her~~ him. Sitting here writing this now, I'm ready to go back. Thank you again, Aunt Vicki and Uncle Ray, for everything. Until next year...

This year's party was one of the best! I know I say that every year but it's true. It gets better each year, period. It's always a good time catching up with people you rarely get to see. The food was great, as always, and the company and conversation were second to none. The fireworks were truly excellent this year (except for the one that fell over on it's last two shots - oops!). I could tell from the displays and the reactions that I picked some winners, especially the 'triple shot' one. Almost everyone commented on that one (mental note: get more of those next year). Barring a few minor mishaps (which were interesting, to say the least) and even more ideas for improvement, I'd call it a success. Thanks to everyone who helped out and hope you had as much fun as we did. See you next year!

Only Three...Already

Are you sure you're only three, Jordy? You're growing up way too fast. Or maturing faster than ~~we want~~ you should. Mommy and I are really proud of you and love you very much. I say only when talking about my little man, but what I really mean is already. Happy Birthday buddy, hope you like your new big boy bed!

Ringling Bros. Circus

Today we took Jordan to the Ringling Bros. Circus at the Wachovia Arena. What a blast! It was the first time Lorraine had been to one too, so she was just as excited and in awe as he was. I could go on and on, but I'll condense it to this: tigers, elephants, and motorcycles in a cage! How can you lose? And let's not forget the dancing girls - loved the handlebar outfits, vroom, vroom! Little man got sleepy and wasn't feeling a hundred percent, so we left with about fifteen minutes to go. It was an excellent show that we'll definitely be going to again in the future.

Last night Lorraine and I were talking about burning a couple Disney movies to dvd. All of a sudden Jordan lets out a wail and starts crying. "What's wrong, Jordy?" she asks. "Daddy's gonna burn my movies!" (he's thinking "burn barrel"). A quick explanation and reassurance that I was not going to burn his movies and he was fine again. When you think about it, it kind of brings on a smile...and a tear.

Harlem Globetrotters vs Washington Generals

Bet you have no idea how this turns out. We went down and watched the Harlem Globetrotters yesterday. Yes, they won, I know you were wondering. All of Lorraine's immediate family was there and we all had nice seats right next to each other (thanks, Pipa). Too bad they couldn't get the sound worked out, it was hard to hear what they were saying most of the time. Jim Cole from WNEP 16 was the guest celebrity who got to play a little bit, making both free throws after he was fouled. All in all, it was a good time and I'm glad to have seen them once. Yeah once, that's enough.

Best/Worst part of the show? During a skit, a player took a purse from a lady in the audience which caused an exchange with the ref. When asked "Where did you get that purse?", he whispered and the ref repeated "From which white lady?". After a shrug and another whisper the ref said, "What do you mean they all look the same to you?". Funny in an ironic way kind of, but not really. Almost about as funny and ironic as "a black man stole a white lady's purse". See, I'm shocked and doubled over with laughter all at the same time </sarcasm>.

Super Bowl XLII Party

This year's Super Bowl Party was pretty fun. Lorraine and I borrowed a deep fryer and went to town making blooming onions, taquitos and hot wings. Again, there was more than enough food and the drinks were plentiful, so let's get to the game. It was played on February 3, 2008 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona between the (NFC) New York Giants (10-6) and the (AFC) New England Patriots (16-0). The Giants won 17-14 in what is sure to be considered the greatest upset in Super Bowl history. Another year, another Manning Super Bowl win; this time by Eli. Those boys sure know how to play. Jordin Sparks performed the National Anthem and halftime was performed by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. The best performance though was Alicia Keys in the pregame. Paula Abdul needs to give it up, that performance was "absolutely dreadful". See you at the next one.

Sittin' With Santa

Lorraine and I took Jordan to a kid's Christmas party at the Geisinger Medical Center in Towanda yesterday. This year, unlike last, he was all about the jolly red guy, getting right up front as close as he could. With games, treats, and Santa, what more could a kid want? Oh yeah, a present. Santa gave him a pair of blue Safety Scissors, just like Mickey Mouse. It was a fun time for the kids, thanks to those who put it on and invited him. Now we're ready for the big night for sure.

Surprise, Grampa!

We had a surprise party, complete with a pig roast, for Grampa Lamb's 50th birthday at the house today. Many family and friends attended, some for the first time. I think it's safe to say he got enough chocolate to last him until he's 51, hehe. It was a beautiful day and was really great seeing everyone. Happy Birthday, Grampy!

So I took some more time off work (it's really only a place I go, not what I do anyway) and hitched a bus ride with Ken and Ruth down to Knoebels for a few days. We stayed in the tent with a nice air matress to sleep on, sweet. I think it goes without saying that Jordan really liked that. So camp was set up, dinner was had, now it's time to ride! Over the next couple days we hit a little bit of everything, but kept going back to the old standby choo-choo trains and Jordan's new personal favorite, the Flyers. We must have ridden that thing a dozen times, each time going a little higher until we finally had the cables shaking, "laughing all the way, ha-ha-ha". Every ride ended with "wanna go 'gain". Ok, you're the boss...no wait, I'm the boss...aren't I? Anyway. Everybody had a good time and we're all set for next year. It's nice to get home though, even though this is the place I really work.

We took off this weekend for a couple of much needed days away from everyonething. I skipped work Friday afternoon and we went early, happy we did. Nothing like waking up in the morning knowing you have nothing to do, putting on a pair of shorts and going for a swim before breakfast. I could get a little too used to that. Jordan was completely in his element running in and out of the water whenever he wanted, excavating the beach as he thought was needed, and feeding the duckies that visited quite regularly. Did I mention the boat ride? That topped it off for him, nothing else was needed. We also went to the Windmill, a sort of 'farmer's market', but with wine tasting. I seriously could get too used to this. The nights were spent sitting lakeside by a fire chatting over a few drinks amongst ourselves and the neighbors. I'm sold, anytime now powerball, anytime. Thank you very much Aunt Vicki and Uncle Ray, it was greatly appreciated.

So on the way home we stopped at KFC for lunch and continued home. Once we got there, there was a message inviting us to dinner at Uncle Justin's. Sweet. Nothing like finishing off a great weekend with great friends. Home once again and Mommy and I are relaxing with a bit of wine. This is where the story ends...for you.

Awesome. For the most part as it rained most of the day. All in all half of the people still came out. Pre-cooking and lining the cooler with foil worked out much better as I had more time to ~~drink~~ socialize. The fireworks went off without a hitch, thanks for the help Todd (got a little captain in ya?). Hopefully it will be a nicer day next year, but at least this time it will be on a Friday. Yeah! Terrible Two's

I think it's more terrible for the parents because they just keep growing. Jordan turned two...already. Man time flies something something. We had a party for him, thanks to everyone for everything. We had a great time, he especially. His first introduction to chasing a remote control car/tractor (me with the remote and him not knowing how it was moving) was absolutely hilarious. Lifelong memory for sure. I won't mention which one of his cousins I later suckered in too who shrieked and said "Oh my god, how's that thing moving!". Jojo, you're funny (oops!). Now when he and I are sitting in my chair we send it out into the kitchen and run into Mommy a few times until she puts food in it for us, good times I tell you, good times. And so goes another year. Note to Jordan: "Stay like this, pease."

Red Sox vs Yankees

Ok, so it was the Pawtucket Red Sox at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, but still, it's the Red Sox and Yankees! I took Jordan and Mommy down to a day game yesterday, it was a blast. The Yankees won 4-5 in 10 innings! Too bad we had to leave in the 7th when it was still 2-3, but Jordan was getting tired and it had been a long day for him. He really liked the mascot and wanted to go down on the field to ride the putt-putt with him, but we thought better to stay put and watch the ball. What a game to get introduced to baseball though! Let me say it again, it was the Yankees and Red Sox! Mommy and I had fun too, if you couldn't tell. Too bad we didn't get to see Clemens, though, that would have been really neat. Maybe next time Daddy will get you a hat, but you have to stay awake to pick it out, deal?

Update: We went down again on May 24, 2007 to a day game to see the Indianapolis Indians which ended up with the Yankees losing 8-5 in 9 innings. As we were leaving in the top of the 6th, which was already 8-1, Daddy ~~stole~~ found a hat for you on the way out. Who loves ya, buddy?

RIP: 60,000 - 311,000

Oh Bronco, we hardly knew ye. Yep, it happened. I decided to take the ol' girl out for a night on the town (ok, a day on the farm) when she just started giving up. Brake lines blew as we tried to slow down on the hill, eventually rolling to a stop. Then, like out of a b-movie horror flick, the scream of a wide open throttle body filled my ears as I shut her down to spare us the agony of the inevitable. It was too late, the damage was done. The lifeblood flowed from every gasket and seal. Her emblems will forever be displayed in my garage, a reminder of our good times together. But all is not lost, my buddy who helped haul her away and asked for a couple parts. I obliged, then inquired. The horns are going into his hotrod! The body may have died, but the voice lives on!

A reply to a certain someone who laughingly quipped "Ooh, are you sad your Bronco went bye-bye?"...I've had that thing longer than you, woman. Check-and-mate. Did I give it away who it was? Nah.

Super Bowl XLI Party

Had a Super Bowl Party yesterday, February 4, 2007. It was the (AFC) Indianapolis Colts (12-4) vs the (NFC) Chicago Bears (13-3) at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Colts won 29-17, glad to see Peyton Manning win, he deserves it. The ads were sparse this year, certainly not the best. Billy Joel sang the National Anthem and Prince performed at halftime. Everyone had a good time and a lot to eat. Good enough. See you next year, hopefully with the Steelers.

Sittin' With Santa

So last Saturday we took Jordan to the Viewmont Mall to see Santa for the first time. We did family photos at Sears and then were second in line to see Santa, only having to wait about 15 minutes. He was really excited to see the man he's told endless times at home that he wants a "choo-choo" for Christmas. Now was his big chance. It all came down to this and...he wouldn't let go of Mommy for anything. He did muster up enough gumption to accept a coloring book and tell Santa "choo-choo" before we left, but he wouldn't go to him. A picture is worth a thousand words, but the video I shot instead is priceless, so check it out. On a side note we did learn something that day. Put dress clothes on your child after you get where you're going. Even if they've never been carsick, as soon as they're wearing their Sunday best, they will be.

This year's party was great. I had more time to enjoy people being there than I have in prior years, though I need a better strategy for cooking as two hours is still too long. The fireworks were good, not the best, but my 'partner in crime' left me hanging this year and I had a couple rookies (hehe, thanks Ken and Gary). We like to celebrate on the actual holiday, but having a party on a Tuesday when people have to go back to work the next day leaves little room for recuperation, if you know what I mean. I love doing this and every year, it's getting better, faster, easier, and most importantly more enjoyable overall for everyone. Once again, thanks to those who helped out and to those that came. See you next year!

Already a year old, man time flies. That means I'm a year older too (but none the wiser). We had a little party for family and friends, it was a good time. Thanks for everything and everyone who attended. Note to Jordan: "This is your father. Stop it, no more growing up...I mean it!"

I'm Broken

I ended up breaking my leg a week ago. Not quite sure exactly how or why, but both bones in my lower right leg are fractured. I had surgery to repair the damage which included an 8" steel plate and 11 screws! Crutches suck, can't walk, can't carry anything, but the meds are good. Cabin fever is already setting in, I'm not used to doing nothing, at least I can work from home until the Dr lets me go back. Oh well, these things happen.

July 4th Party

The party was a huge success. The fireworks were excellent I'm told. I couldn't really watch them until we lit the last 5 or 6 for the finale. I love doing this and we're getting better at it each year. The food was very good also, I'm told. I didn't get to eat much between cooking and doing all the running for everything but it's worth it to make sure everyone has a good time. I already made adjustments and a new list for next year, as this shindig is just getting bigger and better and I couldn't be happier about it. I should have taken pictures, but I was way too busy to do that, maybe it will be a little less hectic next year. Thanks to all who helped out and I hope to see those of you who couldn't come this time make it to the next one. Same time, same place, different year.

He was born on June 28th, 2005 at 16:11. His measurements were 8 lbs. 9 oz. 20.5" long. He was 7 days overdue as he was due on the 21st. Labor lasted roughly 16 hours. Mommy was a trooper and is glad it's all over, as is Daddy. We came home from the hospital on the 30th.

A Whole Year Already!

This is a little late, but considering everything going on I'm surprised I remembered it at all. We've been in the house for a full year as of June 23. Wow! Time files when you don't have time to think about...time. I'm posting a couple pics for those who haven't seen it finished. It looks alot different from the early pics, doesn't it? Not much has been done to the inside as far as paint, paper goes, white walls are a refreshing change from the trailer (and if I have anything to say about it they'll stay white forever!). All the money, headaches, and...money was well worth it. I must have brained my damage today, I need a thesarus 'really, really...bad' for some reason. Open invitations available (only for those who already know how to get here!).
